Portland Chamber Music Festival

The Portland Chamber Music Festival enhances the cultural life of southern Maine by bringing internationally recognized artists of the highest caliber to Portland to present a wide range of classical and contemporary chamber music, including education and engagement programs for community members of all ages.

The intimacy of chamber music allows walls to be broken down, connections to be made, and experiences to be shared between artist and audience, and among listeners. All of PCMF's programs are thoughtfully designed to support and enhance these unique attributes. The core summer Festival includes four main stage concerts, often including stage talks or artist interviews, and always followed by a complimentary reception where musicians and music-lovers mingle. A free Family Concert designed for ages 3-7 with supporting activities rounds out the August Festival offerings.

PCMF's contemporary chamber series, in partnership with SPACE Gallery, features innovative programs with dynamic composers and performers in an informal setting, often including mixed media such as film, electronics, and theatrical elements.

PCMF’s popular Salon Series of house concerts is set in private homes and intimate spaces around southern Maine. Featuring the world-renowned musicians that audiences have come to know at our August Festival, the Salon Series celebrates chamber music as it was meant to be experienced: in living rooms and parlors, surrounded by family and friends. In addition to hearing live performances with some of the finest chamber musicians in the world, audiences mingle with these artists in an informal setting, and share musical insights and personal connections.
