The Green Elephant is Maine’s premier restaurant for “mindful dining.” Opened in 2007 by Chef Dan Sriprasert, the Green Elephant has quickly become Portland’s favorite vegetarian bistro. With an Asian-inspired menu, you’ll find tons of vegan and vegetarian options that even the most hardcore carnivore will love, like the Pad Thai, peanut curry, and Panang curry vegetables & tempeh.
Chase’s Daily is about unconventional as it gets. Up until recently they didn’t have a website nor do they love to sing their own praises. But, Chase’s Daily desires every bit of praise for this much-loved family-owned business. Chase’s is opened on limited days and times so always check the website for meal times. The ingredients are farm fresh and grown locally and you’ll never be disappointed by what you’re served.
Bandaloop in the heart of Arundel specializes in organic global fare. While the menu does have meat and seafood on the menu, vegans and vegetarians will not go hungry here. Everything from the chicken to the vegetables to the salt and pepper are all natural and organic so you know that you’re eating as environmentally friendly as you can. And, don’t skip their dessert menu!
She Doesn’t Like Guthries is a bohemian, eco-friendly restaurant in Lewiston. As a certified Maine “Green Restaurant,” Guthrie’s uses Earth friendly containers and utensils, recycles and composts, and purchases everything they can from local growers and producers. You’ll find a couple of meat dishes on this menu, but everything else is vegetarian or vegan.
The Fork & Spoon is a self-described “quirky conscious eatery” in the heart of downtown Bangor. You’ll find plenty of meat options on this menu, but vegetarians and vegans will still have a good choice of lunch options from smoothies to made-to-order salads, and daily soup and sandwich specials. Vegans will love the Chik’n, tempeh, and popular jackfruit “pulled pork” options on the menu.
