But, Chase’s Daily desires every bit of praise for this much-loved family-owned business. Chase’s is opened on limited days and times so always check the website for meal times. The ingredients are farm fresh and grown locally and you’ll never be disappointed by what you’re served.  

3. Silly’s Restaurant, Portland, ME

Silly’s Restaurant is a longtime staple of Portland and a local favorite. While not purely a vegetarian restaurant, it’s vegetarian and vegan options rival almost every vegetarian restaurant in all of New England. With creative names and knowledgeable staff, even the pickiest vegan will find something to love on this extensive menu.  

4. Bandaloop, Kennebunkport, ME

Bandaloop in the heart of Kennebunkport specializes in organic global fare. While the menu does have meat and seafood on the menu, vegans and vegetarians will not go hungry here. Everything from the chicken to the vegetables to the salt and pepper are all natural and organic so you know that you’re eating as environmentally friendly as you can. 5. Local Sprouts Cooperative, Portland, ME

Local Sprouts Cooperative is a unique restaurant in Portland, it’s a worker-owned and operated cooperative meaning every worker, from the dish washer to the servers, can invest and receive a share of the profits of the business. All food served in the restaurant is locally sourced from Maine growers, producers, and distributors. The menu changes seasonally with the produce and has tons of vegan, vegetarian, and kid-friendly options.  

6. She Doesn’t Like Guthries, Lewiston, ME

She Doesn’t Like Guthries is a bohemian, eco-friendly restaurant in Lewiston. As a certified Maine “Green Restaurant,” Guthrie’s uses Earth friendly containers and utensils, recycles and composts, and purchases everything they can from local growers and producers. You’ll find a couple of meat dishes on this menu, but everything else is vegetarian or vegan. 

7. The Olive Branch Café, Lewiston, ME

What was once known as The Ark has transformed into the Olive Branch Café to provide lifestyle education to motivate and empower the community to live well balanced lives. The café is opened daily for a healthy plant-based lunch menu. In the evenings, you can sign up for their free classes like plant-based cooking classes and lectures by local doctors. The Olive Branch Café not only nourishes your body, but your mind as well. 

8. Taste of Eden Vegan Café, Norway, ME

Nestled in the Western mountains of Maine, Taste of Eden Vegan Café offers a tasty vegan restaurant in small town Norway. All the food served at the restaurant is 100 percent vegan and supplied from farm-to-table by local producers. You’ll find a range of sandwiches, like the VBLT and Chick-N-Salad, and daily soups. 

9. Fork & Spoon, Bangor, ME

The Fork & Spoon is a self-described “quirky conscious eatery” in the heart of downtown Bangor. You’ll find plenty of meat options on this menu, but vegetarians and vegans will still have a good choice of lunch options from smoothies to made-to-order salads, and daily soup and sandwich specials. 10. Café Miranda, Rockland, ME

Over the years, Café Miranda has won many awards for its farm-to-table experience because most of the vegetables, fruits and herbs are grown at the Chef’s Headacre Farm in Owls Head.
