About us:

Located at 650A Congress Street in the heart of Portland's Arts District, Blue is Portland's most intimate live music venue. We present an array of music such as Jazz, Celtic, Middle Eastern, Blues, Bluegrass, Old Time,  Folk, and more. Blue has won Portland's Best Jazz Venue for several years in a row and dedicates every Saturday night to JAZZ AT THE BLUE.  In addition, we offer a selection of fine wines from around the world as well as Maine microbrews, other beers on tap, curious bottled beers, and a small but delicious menu featuring artisanal cheeses.

In 2004 there was a place called Jim's located at 650A Congress St.  It was the start of music in the space.  The previous owner of Blue and former patron of Jim's, Barry, was asked about taking over ownership and on Friday, April 29, 2005 BLUE OPENED it's doors. On Wednesday, September 15, 2010, Blue was acquired by Terez Fraser, who had been a part of Blue since 2006 and was also a former patron of Jim's.  On Wednesday, March 11, 2015, after a month long closure, Blue re-opened in a newly expanded space, joining 650A and 652 Congress Street.

In its 10 years, Blue has become known not only for its terrific food, wine, beer, music & art, but also for its warm, cozy atmosphere and the sense of community that is brought to life each night.
